This Fraud week we wanted to remind you how you can best protect yourself against scams.

| Every day new scams pop up online, in emails, and even over the phone. Before you click, share, or pay, take a moment to check it’s the real deal. You can rest assured, we have robust over the phone verification processes and we will never ask you for your bank passwords, codes or PIN numbers: in person, on the phone, in writing or by email.
Trust your instincts. If something feels off, STOP AND CHECK.

If you suspect you have been caught in a scam or fraud, please phone SBS Bank on 0800 727 2265 immediately to report it or alternatively sending us a secure message via Internet Banking.

The warning signs |

Suspicious links or email addresses - especially ones that look almost right but aren’t. |

Unwanted investment or job offers - promising big returns or fast money. |

Urgent requests for money or personal info - often pretending to be from a trusted company. |

Online shopping - fake websites, sellers who disappear, or deals that seem too good to be true. |

Investment scams - pressure to act fast, secrecy, or guaranteed returns. |
| • |
Poor grammar or strange formatting - a red flag for phishing attempts. |

Pressure tactics - limited-time offers, countdowns, or threats of account closure. |

Ways to help protect yourself |

If you are not sure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and call the company directly. |

Never share your login details, password or PIN with anyone. |

Never share any bank-issued authorisation codes you receive. |

Update your devices regularly. |

Make your passwords long, strong and unique. |

If you think you are being targeted by a scam, do not engage. |

Don’t share personal or financial information with anyone you don’t know. |

Don't click on links in suspicious emails. |

Install anti-virus/anti-spyware software on your computer. |
