Dear Member,
We’re writing to let you know about an important change to cash services at our branches that may affect how you bank with us.
Across New Zealand, the way people use cash has been changing, with fewer transactions taking place over the counter. Like many organisations, we’ve reviewed how our members access cash and have made the decision to remove cash services from our SBS Bank branches.
We understand this will be a change for some members, and we want to reassure you that secure alternatives are in place. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth and manageable for you as possible.
What is changing
If you usually visit a branch to deposit or withdraw cash, you’ll need to use alternative options. This may feel unfamiliar at first, but we’re here to support you and encourage you to explore these early.
Getting cash and making deposits
- Withdraw cash from any New Zealand bank ATM (no fee)
- Deposit cash over the counter at any Westpac branch (no fee)
Making payments
- Set up payments through online or mobile banking
- Use your EFTPOS card in shops
- Use your SBS card to make your purchases
When this is happening
- 15 June 2026 – Our Nelson, Tauranga and Dunedin branches will begin working closely with members to help them understand their options for getting cash and making payments.
- 24 July 2026 – This will be the last day cash is held on-site at our Nelson, Tauranga and Dunedin branches.
Need help?
We are here to support you through this change. If you have questions or would like help reviewing your payments, managing your account, or understanding your options, you can visit us in branch or call 0800 727 2265.
Kind regards,
SBS Bank Team
